The History of the Watch

The Watch is a time piece that is made to be worn on an individual. The fashion item is mainly worn on the wrist with a strap or bracelet. The watch is not only an accessory but also a piece of jewelery made for both men and women. One of the more expensive accessories on the market. Once the designer replica watches would have been worn to simply tell the time, nowadays watches are used to display the date, year and to even change television channels. The wristwatch has come a long way from the days of the pocket watch, which in time evolved into the replica Franck Muller watches , to the introduction of digital watches. To the rich and powerful, the watch is an indicator of money and success with many perceiving watches as works of art.

There is a debate as to who invented the high quality replica watches, whether it was Peter Henlein or one of the many other German timepiece makers of the 15th century. What we do know is that watches were first seen to e worn in pockets in the 16th century. In these days there was only one hand and that was to show the hour. These usually had to be wound up twice a day. These Panerai Replica watches were usually so inaccurate that the only possible reason to wear them was solely for fashion reasons. It was an accessory of prestige. At least some things have not changed in the past few centuries.

Over the following centuries the watch progressed through efforts of many to improve accuracy and reliability. During the 20th century, the mechanical design of the watch became standardized, and enhancements were made in superior materials, tighter tolerances, and improved production techniques. It was in the 20th century when wristwatches were first seen worn in public. These were mainly worn by women. In 1904, Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont asked Louis Cartier to think up an innovation that would permit him to keep both hands on the replica Breitling watches of the plane while timing his performances during flight. Cartier and his master watchmaker, Edmond Jaeger eventually came up with the first model for a man's wristwatch called the Santos wristwatch. This was followed soon after by the first successful self-winding system which was invented by John Harwood in 1923.

Electric watches were introduced in the 50s and 60s. The hands still moved mechanically through a wheel train; however these were now powered by a transistor oscillator circuit. This innovation led on to the quartz watch to be launched in 1969. In place of a balance wheel which swung at 5 beats per second, it used a quartz crystal resonator which vibrated at 32,768 Hz, driven by a battery powered oscillator circuit. This dramatically improved the accuracy of the watch.
